About Your Custom Roller Blinds

From the fabric and dimensions to the type of mounting and side you want your cord to be on, you really do get to customise every aspect of your custom roller blinds to ensure they're a perfect fit for your home. We have 2 fabric options; blackout and stiff-translucent, so choose the most suitable fabric to suit your specific needs.

It's important you accurately measure the dimensions according to the mounting style: Relief mounting is where your bespoke roller blinds stand proud of the wall or frame, Recess mounting is where the blinds sit within the window box. For Relief mounting, add 5cm to your width to compensate for spindle fittings. For Recess mounting, provide the exact dimensions of the space you need to fill with your blind.

How your Custom Roller Blinds are Made

These handmade custom roller blinds expertly made to order and made to measure. So that the metal pole isn't exposed when your bespoke rolller blinds are fully extended, we add 2-3 wraps of extra fabric at the top of your design, which is mirrored in most cases. This does not show on the design interface. It is important that you ensure this part always stays rolled up and not visible when unrolling your blind. It acts as an extra strengthening piece for your blind. Using specialist dye sublimation print, the inks are fused deep into the surface of the fabric fibres, creating a long-lasting print. In terms of textures and what the roller blinds UK fabrics look like, the stiff translucent is textured with an acrylic coating, giving it a shiny face and waxy touch. Blackout fabric smooth to touch and has a slightly rubbery reverse that's white in colour. Both fabrics are fire rated and non-fray.

Along with your roller blinds, you'll also receive all the parts necessary for assembly. Please check that all pieces are there and contact us should you find anything is missing. A list of the contents can be found here.

Design Tips

We offer 2 fabric options with very distinctive properties and purposes. The semi-translucent fabric is decorative, slightly textured and lets a little light shine through without being transparent in any way. We'd suggest selecting this option if you're looking to enhance your conservatory or kitchen, where you want the glow of the sunshine without it being overbearing. Whilst it lets some light through, you can't see through it. For rooms that need total blockage from the sun, such as babies nurseries, bedrooms and photography studios, choose blackout. It also has water repellent qualities so makes excellent custom roller blinds for bathrooms too.

Within the design interface, you'll also have the option to select which side you want the cord to go on. You might want to double-check where your custom roller blinds are going to go, so you can see how easy access to a cord is on either side.

How does this product enhance my...

Home

Custom made roller blinds featuring your very own designs are a beautiful addition to any room. As they're made to measure, even the smallest or largest of windows can be given a makeover. The option for both recess and relief mounting also means contemporary homes and those with period features can be customised.

Business

Print your logo and branding on custom made blinds for a unique addition to your business. Hospital wards can use blackout blinds printed with fun characters and uplifting designs, perfect for surgery and private consultancy meetings. They're also great for playgroups and nurseries, where the children's designs can adorn the windows.

Design Brand

Add a line of custom roller blinds to your product offering and give customers a novel way to enjoy your art around their home. If your drawings or paintings are ethereal in nature, choose the stiff translucent fabric so that the silhouettes look magical as a little light shines through. Blinds are a home essential, and yours are unique.

Alternate Text Print guidelines & finishing

Print Guideline

  • DPI-Print Guideline Icon

What's the best resolution to print in?

We print at 200dpi, which is a good combination of quality and file weight. Ideally, your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi, this means that no resizing of your file occurs stopping any interpolation.

  • Jpeg-Tiff Print Guideline Icon

Should I save my file as a TIFF or JPEG?

For multi-coloured or very detailed files we recommend using a tiff format, but they must be flattened. For simple colours and low detail files, a jpeg is fine.

  • RGB-CMYK Print Guideline Icon

Which colour model should I choose? RGB or CMYK?

We advise providing images in the RGB colour space. Specifically using the sRGB image profile, to achieve best colour results. What does this mean? In your editing software choose RGB as the working space, and assign the image profile as sRGB (full name sRGB IEC61966-2.1)

  • GSM ICON

    What does GSM mean?

Grams per Square Meter (GSM) is an international standard for measuring the weight of paper or fabric. GSM uses the weight of a square meter (1000 x 1000mm) as an indication of the weight and thickness of a given fabric. We class 20-100gsm as light (summer fabrics, gauzes and fine silks), 101-249 gsm as medium (most clothing fabrics) and 250+ gsm as heavy (upholstery fabrics, and other specialist fabrics).

  • Fill Bleed Areas ICON

    What are the bleed areas?

When designing your product, it’s best to make sure that your image is slightly larger than needed. In printing, the extra printed image is referred to as a “Bleed Area” or margin, and it is removed from the finished piece. A bleed area acts as a buffer for slight inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. however, it’s important to fill your bleed areas completely, or you may end up with white, unprinted strips along the edge of your finished product.

  • Transfer-Print Guideline Icon

Do you print on garments a customer supplies?

Unfortunately not. All our garments are printed on flat fabric and sewn into finished products, which gives a better, finished result and all-over print. We test meticulously so that we know what gets the best results on our fabrics, and our facilities cater perfectly to them. We do however print sublimation paper to order, so if you have access to a heat press you can press your fabrics or flat garments easily.

  • Pattern Alignment Across Seams ICON

Can you Align a Pattern or design across panels of a garment?

We always strive for the greatest accuracy when printing and constructing your garments. However, due to unavoidable stretch or movement of the fabric during the stitching process, we cannot guarantee perfect pattern registration across garment seams. We are generally accurate within 2-3mm, which Is close enough for most patterns but may show slight issues with detailed geometric patterns.

  • print label option icon

Can I print my own Labels?

Most of our garments now come with printable label space for you to add your own company information and branding! If you would like to sew in your own labels, we also offer Printed Fabric Labels here.

  • Eco friendly Printing

How is your fabric printing eco-friendly?

With environmental consciousness in mind, our fabrics are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used. Our heat fixing procedure fixes the colours and prints, avoiding the downsides of steaming, such as excess or contaminated water returning into the waste system. We have one facility in London where we conduct all the printing, production and fulfillment.

Please note: As everything we provide is handmade to order, all measurements may vary slightly.
Alternate Text FAQ

Do you have anymore technical advice?

When your blinds are fully rolled up, the thickness with the pole is 5.5cm - 6cm. Check your window frame dimensions and ensure you can still open your window with the blinds being obstructive.

What is relief and recess mounting?

Relief mounting is where your blinds sit infront of the window frame, so the blind fixtures are attached to the wall. Recess mounting is when your blinds sit within the window box.

What does the safety cord clip do?

When pulled too hard, the safety cord clip snaps apart (not breaking), preventing children and toddlers accidentally getting the cord loop wrapped around their neck. It's a necessary feature.
