How Your Custom Packaging Boxes Are Made
Design your own custom packaging online using our specialist design tool. This is then sent through to our expert technicians who will print your design edge to edge in full glorious colour onto the thick, sturdy cardboard. This will infuse eco-friendly inks deep into the fibres of the material, giving you a high-definition, long-lasting print.
Your custom packaging boxes are printed onto a flat piece of card, with folds so that you can easily assemble it. The custom packaging boxes are self-supporting, which means that you don't need glue or tape to hold it together.
If for any reason you find that you need to clean your custom packaging, we would advise surface wiping only. If absolutely necessary then you can clean gently by hand with a cloth, dampened with mild soapy water.
Whether it is a scarf from your new clothing line, or another product featuring your art, it can come in such a variety of shapes and sizes. As a result we have three different sizes of custom packaging boxes for you to choose from. These all have A sizes which are similar - our boxes are often just bigger, perfect for fitting an A size item in them - so it is worth checking the size you need before creating your design and placing your order. To make things easier we have provided a handy reference for you below.
Small-160 x 115 mm/A6 - 148 x 105 mm
Medium-220 x 150 mm/A5 - 210 x 148 mm
Large-345 x 240 mm/A4 - 297 x 210 mm
Please note that all custom packaging boxes are 20 mm deep.
How does this product enhance my...
If you use your home as a base, there is usually that corner of a room or the cupboard under the stairs, full of half used tubes of brown paper in varying thicknesses. Because these rolls are often only partially used, the edges end up dog-eared, the top and bottom gets tattered and torn, and you end up wasting so much of the roll neatening the edges. With custom packaging boxes, they can be stored flat packed, and assembled whenever you need to use them - you don't even need to go hunting for the tape as the box is self-supporting.
When it comes to business, you need good PR. As all good PR agents know, there is a great deal of importance in gifting. Nothing shows off your campaign better, or makes your stand out from the crowd than an excellent pitch that is presented well. With unique, custom packaging boxes you can not only send out a stunning pitch but you can do it in style. Design your own box with your company logo or a campaign-related catchphrase and make sure the media will remember you. The brilliant design means there is no tape, and no tearing; even if you're not an expert wrapper.
With a product that is so useful for both your own home and your business, why wouldn't you offer something that is so indispensable to your customers as well? This is a great way to get your designs, artwork and illustrations out into the world, as well as to expand your ever-growing portfolio. Not only can you use this as your packaging, you can sell it as packaging too. The custom packaging boxes are well made, from thick, sturdy cardboard, so could be re-used as storage making a wonderful dual-purpose, dual-audience product.
Frequently asked questions:
Why are the sizes not A sizes exactly?
The main reason for this is that it would be less convenient if they were. If someone ordered an A4 photo frame, it's for an A4 photo. This means that with the frame included it's a little over A4. To send this, you wouldn't get it in an A4 envelope, and as such, our packaging is sized slightly bigger, to allow the extra space (and some for bubblewrap too if it's needed)
What do you mean by self-supporting?
The custom packaging boxes are designed in a way that does not require any glue or tape. A clever design that involves folding certain parts of the box over itself, and finishes by tucking a tab into a small slit in the card, specifically for that purpose means that the box holds itself together. Even though there is no adhesive, the box will not come apart accidentally, and despite the clever design it is super-easy to assemble.
Can I buy more than one of these?
Yes, when you design your own custom packaging it is supplied in singles. If you order more than one box you will benefit from our fantastic quantity discount which will lower the cost of each box. This is great if you want to order multiple boxes, as the more that you add to your basket, the bigger the savings are.
What's the best resolution to print in?
We print at 200dpi, which is a good combination of quality and file weight. Ideally, your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi, this means that no resizing of your file occurs stopping any interpolation.
Should I save my file as a TIFF or JPEG?
For multi-coloured or very detailed files we recommend using a tiff format, but they must be flattened. For simple colours and low detail files, a jpeg is fine.
Which colour model should I choose? RGB or CMYK?
We advise providing images in the RGB colour space. Specifically using the sRGB image profile, to achieve best colour results. What does this mean? In your editing software choose RGB as the working space, and assign the image profile as sRGB (full name sRGB IEC61966-2.1)
What does GSM mean?
Grams per Square Meter (GSM) is an international standard for measuring the weight of paper or fabric. GSM uses the weight of a square meter (1000 x 1000mm) as an indication of the weight and thickness of a given fabric. We class 20-100gsm as light (summer fabrics, gauzes and fine silks), 101-249 gsm as medium (most clothing fabrics) and 250+ gsm as heavy (upholstery fabrics, and other specialist fabrics).
What are the bleed areas?
When designing your product, it’s best to make sure that your image is slightly larger than needed. In printing, the extra printed image is referred to as a “Bleed Area” or margin, and it is removed from the finished piece. A bleed area acts as a buffer for slight inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. however, it’s important to fill your bleed areas completely, or you may end up with white, unprinted strips along the edge of your finished product.
Do you print on garments a customer supplies?
Unfortunately not. All our garments are printed on flat fabric and sewn into finished products, which gives a better, finished result and all-over print. We test meticulously so that we know what gets the best results on our fabrics, and our facilities cater perfectly to them. We do however print sublimation paper to order, so if you have access to a heat press you can press your fabrics or flat garments easily.
Can you Align a Pattern or design across panels of a garment?
We always strive for the greatest accuracy when printing and constructing your garments. However, due to unavoidable stretch or movement of the fabric during the stitching process, we cannot guarantee perfect pattern registration across garment seams. We are generally accurate within 2-3mm, which Is close enough for most patterns but may show slight issues with detailed geometric patterns.
Can I print my own Labels?
Most of our garments now come with printable label space for you to add your own company information and branding! If you would like to sew in your own labels, we also offer Printed Fabric Labels here.
How is your fabric printing eco-friendly?
With environmental consciousness in mind, our fabrics are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used. Our heat fixing procedure fixes the colours and prints, avoiding the downsides of steaming, such as excess or contaminated water returning into the waste system. We have one facility in London where we conduct all the printing, production and fulfillment.
Please note: As everything we provide is handmade to order, all measurements may vary slightly.
