Simple leaf stems found on a walk around my village were the inspiration for this collection of designs. I photographed them, used Paint.net to change their hue and brilliance, used Painter for a woodcut effect, then used Filter Forge to show me the huge range of possible colour combinations and positioning of the leaves. The design has quite widely spaced leaves in contrast to some of my other designs. This is because i wanted the background effect to be as much a part of the design as the leaves and because i feel that sometimes less is more. I love the mottled effect background in this collection because it produces in some cases a striking sheen. For these reasons, i can see these designs being made into curtains and shower curtains as well as wallpaper for hotels, restaurants, cafes etc.
