Joyce Allen Textiles

Joyce Allen is a French born textiles designer, with a BA(Hons) in Textiles Design and Innovation from Loughborough University. Her dual nationality has provided challenges pushing her out of her comfort zone, augmenting her creatively. Having studied art as her Baccalaureate, as well as doing a foundation year in Textiles at Loughborough University and short Summer courses at Central Saint Martins, London, she has kept very personal approaches to her work and developed her skills and professionalism. During her second year at university, Joyce specialised in Integrated Digital Practice, which meant that she would explore and work with industrial programmes such as Wilcom to produce digital embroideries. Photoshop and Illustrator are the main software she uses, however she tries to bring the digital presence into her work by manipulating and drawing on top of existing work. All the work and collections are created and produced making sure that the fabrics used focus on texture exploration throughout. Contrast within colour and linear compositions are key to Joyce’s approach. She has chosen to sell specific pieces of her work via Contrado to ensure that the quality of the final product reaches high standards. This allows her to offer affordable high-end work for the pleasure of all.
