Clan Shaw is a notable Highland Scottish clan with roots tracing back to Farquhar Shaw, also known as Shaw Mòr, who was granted the lands near Aviemore for his leadership. These lands were sold in the 16th century. A significant event in the clan's history is the death of Shaw Mòr's son, James, in 1411. James's heir, Alasdair Gair, succeeded him, and Alasdair's brother, Adam, founded a prominent branch of the clan. Tordarroch signed important clan agreements in 1543 and 1609, showcasing his leadership role. The Shaw's raised a contingent in the Jacobite Rising of 1715. Descendants of Alasdair Gair include the Shaw's of Dell, Dalnavert, and Harris and the Isles, along with Clan Farquharson.
