There are events that happen every year, that help determine the fashion industry for the next 12 months. Trade shows and Fashion Weeks are among these. Then, you have exhibitions in galleries and museums, that give a broader insight into the industry. Of course, it’s not just about what we will be wearing, but what it will be made from. Fabric trade shows and exhibits are critical to attend, if you want to have a deeper understanding of the fashion industry.

6th – 8th January 2018: London Fashion Week Men’s

  • What? Fashion Week for the men’s collections in London, previously known as London Collections Men. Menswear designers showcase the latest trends throughout showrooms and galleries across London.
  • When? From the 6th – 8th January 2018
  • Where? BFC Showspace, 180 The Strand, London, WC2R 1EA and various other London locations

10th – 11th January 2018: London Textile Fair

  • What? The UK’s premier platform for fashion fabrics and accessories. Manufacturers and their agents are provided with the opportunity to display their work to influential buyers and designers. (Trade only)
  • When? 10th – 11th January 2018
  • Where? Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, London, N1 0QH

17th – 21st January 2018: Paris Fashion Week Men’s

  • What? The major menswear shows in Paris. From Alexander McQueen to Lanvin, these shows will determine what men’s fashion will look like over the next 12 months.
  • When? 17th – 21st January 2018
  • Where? Various locations across Paris, France

22nd January 2018: Haute Couture Paris 

  • What? The prestigious haute couture houses showcase their latest designs and trends, in show-stopping shows and catwalks.
  • When? 21st – 25th January 2018
  • Where? Various locations across Paris, London

24th – 25th January 2018: Future Fabrics Expo 

  • What? The point of this expo is to create a platform for consumers and professionals to learn more about the efforts of global textile mills, to design, manufacture, and function in a more sustainable and eco-friendly way. New textiles and fabric innovations will be unveiled for manufacturers to discover and adopt.
  • When? 24th – 25th January 2018

28th – 30th January 2018: Scoop

  • What? A tradeshow for premium womenswear and accessories. Exhibitors are the leaders in the fashion industry. Originally launched in 2011, Scoop showcases niche designers and diverse brands, which can’t be seen anywhere else. (Trade only)
  • When? 28th – 30th January 2018

30th January 2018: Fashion Showcase and Networking Night

  • What? A unique chance to see exciting fashion brands. This showcase presents brands and products in a new an innovative way.
  • When? 30th January 2018
  • Where? DADO54, 54 Farringdon Street, London, EC4A 4HT

5th – 8th February 2018: New York Fashion Week Men’s

  • What? The premier menswear designs in the US showcase their latest trends and designs for the upcoming fashion season. For the first time, the men’s and women’s shows with be combined to create an entire 10 day fashion event.
  • When? 5th – 8th February 2018
  • Where? Various locations in New York City

8th – 16th February 2018: New York Fashion Week

  • What? Men’s and women’s fashion week are being combined for the first time to create a solid 10 days of pure fashion. Some of the biggest names in fashion will be showcasing their latest trends and designs down New York’s premier catwalks.
  • When? 8th – 16th February 2018
  • Where? Primarily Skylight Clarkson Square and Industria in New York City

9th February – 6th May: T-SHIRT: CULT | CULTURE | SUBVERSION

  • What? An exhibition that explores the past, present and future of the t-shirt. This exhibit charts the history and culture of one of the fashion industries most popular garments. You will also see a private collection of t-shirts from Vivienne Westwood and more.
  • When? 9th February – 6th May 2018

16th – 20th February 2018: London Fashion Week

  • What? All fashion eyes are firmly on London as runways and catwalks come to life with the latest trends and designs from some of the world’s top fashion designers. Also expect fashion events and parties.
  • When? 16th – 20th February 2018

17th February 2018: Fashion’s Finest LFW Show

  • What? An off-schedule fashion show that provides an opportunity to new talent who would not have the chance to showcase their designs at the official London Fashion Week event. New brands and designers that have yet to be discovered! (Trade only)
  • When? 17th – 18th February 2018

21st – 27th February 2018: Milan Fashion Week

  • What? Featuring some of the top fashion talent in the world, designers come together to showcase their latest collections for the press and fashion buyers.
  • When? 21st – 27th February 2018
  • Where? Various locations in Milan

22nd – 25th February 2018: London Fashion Week Festival

  • What? A huge designer shopping event, which is the sister event to the official London Fashion Week. Loads to experience, including catwalk shows, talks and shopping.
  • When? 22nd – 25th February 2018

27th February – 6th March 2018: Paris Fashion Week

  • What? From Chanel to John Galliano, experience some of the best fashion in the world, as the latest collections make their way down prestigious runways.

13th – 14th March 2018: Wearable Technology Show

  • What? Welcome to the largest exhibit featuring cutting edge technology under one roof in London. With over 6,000 delegates, 200 speakers and 300 press, this is the showcase to discover ingenious technology to propel the future of brands.

14th – 15th March 2018: Textile Forum The Fashion Fabric Show

  • What? The UK’s leading luxury fashion fabric event for designers. It is the place for sourcing fabrics and trimmings for all areas of the fashion industry.

20th – 21st March 2018: TEXFUSION

  • What? The leading UK fair for international manufacturers specialising in a whole range of fabrics, from silk and wool to cottons and blends. Unique textiles such as faux fur, functional fabrics and eco-friendly textiles will also be present.
  • When? 20th – 21st March 2018

25th – 27th March 2018: White Gallery

  • What? Established in 2009 as a platform for high-end bridal designers to present their latest designs to fashion buyers and press. Prestigious and luxurious wedding dress brands showcase their work to the most discerning eyes.

5th April 2018: Menswear Revolution: The Transformation of Contemporary Men’s Fashion

  • What? A talk on the transformation of menswear fashion from the millennium to the present day. This talk looks at gender, fashion and the body and how contemporary menswear has a wider effect on them.

21st April 2018 – 27th January 2019: Fashioned from Nature

  • What? A brand new exhibition which presents fashionable fashion alongside natural history specimens, new textiles and dyeing processes. The aim is to get visitors to think more about what materials their clothes are made from and how they are sourced.

19th April 2018: The Future of Textiles: Textile Art 2028

  • What? A fascinating lecture concentrating on the future of textile art. Professor of Crafts at the Academy of Design and Crafts Jessica Hemmings, will look into 2028 to imagine the textile art of the future.

26th April 2018: Drapers Digital Festival 

  • What? The world’s largest gathering of fashion ecommerce and digital professionals. The day will be filled with awards, talks, debates and fringe events to learn and celebrate the future of the digital fashion world.

25th May – 23rd September 2018: Orla Kiely – A Life in Pattern

  • What? A stunning exhibition dedicated to Orla Kiely and over 150 of her famous and much-loved designs. See how how patterns have evolved and learn more about the designer.
  • When? 25th May – 23rd September 2018

8th – 11th June 2018: London Fashion Week Men’s 

  • What? The mid-year show for menswear designers to showcase their latest designs throughout London.
  • When? 8th – 11th June 2018

16th June – 4th November 2018: Frida Kahlo’s Wardrobe

  • What? An amazing exhibition dedicated to artist Frida Kahlo, displaying a collection of personal artefacts and clothing belonging to the artist. These have never before been seen by the outside world.
  • When? 16th June – 4th November 2018
  • Where? Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Road, London, SW7 2RL

6th – 14th September 2018: New York Fashion Week

  • What? Designers showcase their collections for the spring/summer 2019 season. Press, celebrities and buyers will all be in attendance at the runways.
  • When? 6th – 14th September 2018
  • Where? Primarily at Skylight Clarkson Square and Industria in New York City

7th – 18th September 2018: Fashion Together

  • What? This exhibit spotlights the process of seven selected duos in the fashion industry, from photographers and filmmakers to designers and milliners. Collaborations include creatives such as Rick Owens and Michele Lamy, Shaun Leane and Alexander McQueen, and Gareth Pugh and Ruth Hogben.

14th – 18th September 2018: London Fashion Week

  • What? Designers from all over the world including the UK show their spring/summer 2019 collections on runways and exhibits all over London.

19th – 25th September 2018: Milan Fashion Week

  • What? The spring/summer 2019 collections walk the runways on some of the world’s top models.

20th – 23rd September 2018: London Fashion Week Festival

  • What? The Fashion Week consumer event will take place right after the shows, and will also occur in the official London Fashion Week venue. There will be catwalks, talks and loads of amazing shopping opportunities.

25th September – 3rd October 2018: Paris Fashion Week

  • What? Fashion Week concludes in Paris where prestigious fashion houses show their spring/summer 2019 collections to press, VIPs, and buyers.

20th October 2018 – 21st January 2019: Harper’s Bazaar – 150 Years

  • What? A celebration of America’s first fashion magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, and its 150th anniversary. A unique display highlighting key moments and images of the magazine’s colourful history.
