The Process of Custom Made Rugs

Your original designs are printed using dye sublimation, which fuses the inks deep into the fibres of velvet (marbled or shimmer) so it won't peel over time. We bind jute to the anti-slip latex sponge base for added strength and structure, topping with the printed velvet design. The edges are neatly hemmed, creating a distinct straight line. We hand sew the natural cotton fringe to both or just one of the shorter edges, should you select one of these decorative options. If you ever need to transport your bespoke rugs, they can easily be rolled up, despite the structured jute layer. Details are reproduced to a photo finish, with high definition colours and expert fine lines. Please note: Due to the production process there is an odour which emits from the base/back of the rug. This is normal and will air out in a few days.

Care Instructions

To maintain cleanliness and the pristine condition of your custom rugs, vacuum regularly. Do not put in washing machine, but if necessary, gently wipe with a damp cloth. Please do not place in close proximity to fire places or burning coals/wood. The 10 year guarantee covers print, material & finish (excludes wear and tear).

Design Tips

Infuse your home with culture and design your own rug, UK printed,  inspired by prints from across the globe. Go for a classic Persian motif rug, Italian Baroque prints or mosaic patterns from the Byzantine period. Not just for the home though, these custom made rugs can be used to greet customers in your retail establishment or business reception area. With such a large area to customise, your artwork is visible for all to see when you design your own rug UK.

How does this product enhance my...

  • Home

Add character to your home with custom rugs printed with your own designs. From greeting guests in the hallway to bringing a splash of colour to rooms with neutral tones, they're a finishing touch to your home furnishings. Available in 6 different sizes and shapes, you can design your own rug to fill any space, from narrow hallways to large living rooms.

  • Business

The small details often leave the biggest impression on customers, so make sure their welcome into your establishment is a friendly one with custom made rugs in the reception. Another practical use is to identify different areas, such as individual treatment rooms in beauty parlours or conference suites in hotels.

  • Design Brand

When it comes to rug styles and designs, nothing really goes out of fashion. Prints from classical periods of time are still hugely popular, such as Italian Baroque, Persian motifs and Byzantine mosaics. So why not print your own art pieces onto these velvet rugs for a luxury addition to your product line?

Frequently asked questions:

Which fabric do you use?

We use either our gorgeously soft Velvet Shimmer fabric or our luxurious Marbled Velvet. The short pile of both of these fabrics glistens subtly in the light and more importantly, feels a dream under your feet.

Are they non-slip?

Yes, all custom rugs feature an anti-slip latex sponge base, with a jute binder to give it added strength. The standard base colour is cream.

Are these rugs easy to clean?

Just like you'd clean any carpet or rug, regularly vacuum to maintain cleanliness. Do not put in the washing machine or place next to open flames.

Print Guideline

  • DPI-Print Guideline Icon

What's the best resolution to print in?

We print at 200dpi, which is a good combination of quality and file weight. Ideally, your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi, this means that no resizing of your file occurs stopping any interpolation.

  • Jpeg-Tiff Print Guideline Icon

Should I save my file as a TIFF or JPEG?

For multi-coloured or very detailed files we recommend using a tiff format, but they must be flattened. For simple colours and low detail files, a jpeg is fine.

  • RGB-CMYK Print Guideline Icon

Which colour model should I choose? RGB or CMYK?

We advise providing images in the RGB colour space. Specifically using the sRGB image profile, to achieve best colour results. What does this mean? In your editing software choose RGB as the working space, and assign the image profile as sRGB (full name sRGB IEC61966-2.1)

    What does GSM mean?

Grams per Square Meter (GSM) is an international standard for measuring the weight of paper or fabric. GSM uses the weight of a square meter (1000 x 1000mm) as an indication of the weight and thickness of a given fabric. We class 20-100gsm as light (summer fabrics, gauzes and fine silks), 101-249 gsm as medium (most clothing fabrics) and 250+ gsm as heavy (upholstery fabrics, and other specialist fabrics).

  • Fill Bleed Areas ICON

    What are the bleed areas?

When designing your product, it’s best to make sure that your image is slightly larger than needed. In printing, the extra printed image is referred to as a “Bleed Area” or margin, and it is removed from the finished piece. A bleed area acts as a buffer for slight inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. however, it’s important to fill your bleed areas completely, or you may end up with white, unprinted strips along the edge of your finished product.

  • Transfer-Print Guideline Icon

Do you print on garments a customer supplies?

Unfortunately not. All our garments are printed on flat fabric and sewn into finished products, which gives a better, finished result and all-over print. We test meticulously so that we know what gets the best results on our fabrics, and our facilities cater perfectly to them. We do however print sublimation paper to order, so if you have access to a heat press you can press your fabrics or flat garments easily.

  • Pattern Alignment Across Seams ICON

Can you Align a Pattern or design across panels of a garment?

We always strive for the greatest accuracy when printing and constructing your garments. However, due to unavoidable stretch or movement of the fabric during the stitching process, we cannot guarantee perfect pattern registration across garment seams. We are generally accurate within 2-3mm, which Is close enough for most patterns but may show slight issues with detailed geometric patterns.

  • print label option icon

Can I print my own Labels?

Most of our garments now come with printable label space for you to add your own company information and branding! If you would like to sew in your own labels, we also offer Printed Fabric Labels here.

  • Eco friendly Printing

How is your fabric printing eco-friendly?

With environmental consciousness in mind, our fabrics are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used. Our heat fixing procedure fixes the colours and prints, avoiding the downsides of steaming, such as excess or contaminated water returning into the waste system. We have one facility in London where we conduct all the printing, production and fulfillment.

Please note: As everything we provide is handmade to order, all measurements may vary slightly.
