Supporting Independent Artists: A Step Towards Enabling Creativity

Working on fabric cutting

Supporting independent artists is important because it allows for creative freedom and diversity in the arts. Independent artists often face challenges in gaining exposure and making a living from their work, which is why it’s crucial to support them by attending their shows, purchasing their art, or sharing their work on social media. By doing so, you not only help these artists to sustain their craft, but also contribute to a thriving and dynamic art community. Independent artists bring unique perspectives and voices to the world of art, and it’s up to all of us to ensure that they have the resources and support they need to thrive.

Artist Spotlight: Patricia Shea

One such artist that we are proud to work with is Patricia Shea, who founded her eponymous brand in 2016. Patricia’s designs are colourful, fun and vibrant illustrations. Describing her style as “Design Confections” Patricia combines colour and patterns in unique and dynamic ways, to create a range of stand-out prints that demand attention.

Showcasing a very colour saturated style that mixes detailed illustrations and repeat patterns with layering, Patricia’s art is a great way to make your wardrobe pop. Her work is originally hand painted in watercolour on paper, before being developed on Photoshop. Playing with placement, layering and repeats, Patricia is able to push her designs to the next level. Inspired by nature and the variety of colours it produces, the designs will appeal to anyone who love large scale patterns, mix and match designs, and who are not afraid of colour.

Patricia’s store is filled with products to bring colour and joy to your home and wardrobe. ‘I love detailed illustration in both pencil and watercolour, I love the meditation of creating repeating patterns as both allover textile designs and circular mandalas. There is not enough time in each day for me to bring to fruition all the designs I have as sketches – but each day I create more and enjoy the process from initial sketch to finished art ready to be configured into all manner of designs and layouts’ Patricia says.

Give yourself a spring reset by shopping for Patricia’s bold and vibrant designs here. All the products are lovingly handmade in our London factory and will be ready to be shipped in 24-48 hours.
