Wholesale Business Development Manager

The Role

We are seeking an experienced, passionate Wholesales business development leader to maximise sales opportunities and engage top tier customers for Contrado across the globe. The successful candidate will oversee the commercial growth of our B2B, will run the pipeline of commercial prospects for our platform, being responsible for developing and signing new commercial agreements, with a focus on apparel. You will identify and own new business and partnership opportunities for Contrado Wholesale, and manage the process from initial sales meetings, qualification of the opportunity, bringing the solution team together, helping determine the opportunity through to signature. 

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of driving category growth and building strong business relationships. They will be particularly adept at developing strong, one-to-one relationships and possess a proven record of successful negotiation. They will also have a solution-oriented mindset, looking for creative ways to solve long-standing problems, and using data to drive decisions. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, project management skills, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.


  • In conjunction with the Marketing Director, implement the long-term strategy for specific department in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Using key trends as well as commercial and consumer insight, develop and drive succinct strategies cross company and departmentally whilst being agile to capitalise on the moment and identify new opportunities and target partners.
  • Manage the annual operating plan and quarterly forecasting process, developing objectives and strategies, working with other B2B managers, trading, marketing, product development and finance to drive growth.
  • Actively manage and cultivate the relationship engagement, partnership and joint business planning with each account, new and existing.
  • Execute contract negotiations for certain accounts and appropriately inform all key stakeholders (factory and commercial).
  • Work closely with the creative teams on product development and the marketing teams to support the sale of the product as required by licensee/retailer.
  • Execute new business development pitches and develop research projects with a focus on identifying scalable opportunities
  • Coordinate and actively contribute in market meetings.
  • Collaborate and develop strong relationships with Contrado market teams providing information and regular strategy and updates as well as understanding and satisfying local market needs and differences. Utilise these relationships to share best practise with other B2B managers.
  • E-Commerce and/or Fashion experience.


  • Degree level education in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience within consumer products business and ecommerce.
  • Previous commercial experience in fashion (at least 5 years).
  • Proven experience of building effective relationships, leading and managing change and collaboration across departments to achieve financial targets and joint goals.
  • Proven experience of developing the performance of a team.
  • Financial acumen – an ability to translate numbers into a working plan.
  • Ability to analyse data, construct practical conclusions and implement recommendations to achieve business targets.
  • An ability to be agile in order to capitalise on the moment and identify new opportunities and target partners.
  • Resilient and nimble in an ever-changing landscape.
  • Computer literate including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent English, essential; other European languages, beneficial.
  • A good eye for digital and social.
  • Excellent commercial and strategic approaches to problem solving and innovation.
  • Exceptional planning and organisation skills.
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to achieve buy-in at all levels.
  • Forward thinking with the ability to take industry trends and translate them into something that drives growth for Contrado.
