Head of IT Operations

About the Team

Joining the ICT team, you will be working alongside the CTO and Development team. Our growing 40+ technical team support the company’s ecommerce platform, bespoke web applications as well as company systems and networks for their 150+ employees across multiple sites.
 

Overall Purpose of the role

Looking after multiple technical operations members of staff, the successful Head of IT Operations will have brilliant leadership skills and demonstratable experience of designing, implementing and driving technical strategy whilst working closely with a range of senior stakeholders and 3rd party suppliers.
 
Managing the Operations teams day to day tasks ensuring a timely, but complete delivery to a high standard. Communication, logging and general awareness of tasks and issues across the team is important and policy around shift handover. Rota/shift planning to ensure support and escalation contacts are available at any hour.
 
The Head of Operations will have extensive infrastructure experience and managing teams and implementing projects.
 

Experience:

Minimum 10 years of industry experience in Networking, IT Security & Cloud
 

Essential Skills – Abilities:

  • Windows and Linux servers
  • Domain environment (AD, GPO, LDAP)
  • Exchange online / office 365 / Azure AD Connect
  • Knowledge of shell scripting
  • Networking principles: TCP/IP, Routers, Firewalls, Switches, Load Balancers, VPNs
  • Able to monitor the security logs, Alerts from various network devices like as IPS, IDS, firewall, switches, routers, Load balancer etc.
  • Familiarity and experience of configuration & administration of AWS/Azure cloud
  • Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and prioritization skills
     

Principle Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team of Network & Systems engineers, Security Analyst, DevOps and Support.
  • Become a single point of contact for senior management for IT operation management
  • Responsible for coordination within IT system team and with software department
  • Responsible for local & overseas network, systems and security + backups of these devices.
  • Responsible for developing Business Continuity and DR plans.
  • Windows & Linux Server administration and configuration for performing software upgrades and patches
  • Set/implement/maintain backup policies and verify backups running
  • Responsible for multi-site office network, systems and security + backups of these devices. User AD and email accounts.
  • Monitoring network performance and security with ability to be able to identify and block attacks using tools such as WAF.
  • Ensuring network/systems are well documented and are up to date with latest security patches
     

Other Requirements

  • Willing to occasionally work unsocial hours (18pm – 9am & weekends)
