Warehouse Operations Manager - Production and Logistics

The Role

You will be leading a warehouse and factory operation consisting of multiple prediction units eg packing, quality Control, print, sewing, cutting, canvas making, and leather goods.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the management of the warehouse operation; making sure the warehouse runs in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Around 100 - 150 staff.
  • Managing Workflow. For example reading and acting on data dashboards and reports on orders status, volume of parcels packed and despatched, hours worked, staffing levels, productivity, efficiency in 10 production centres within the factory.
  • Responsible for managing and planning inbound stock; the picking, packing and despatch of products; maintaining stock levels; monitoring warehouse space; planning staff rotas; ensuring a safe working environment, etc.
  • You will take full responsibility for the on-going management of a team of Warehouse Supervisors and Colleagues. You will lead, manage and motivate them and ensure that they provide an efficient and cost-effective service through setting them achievable objectives, conducting regular reviews and identifying any training need.
  • Managing 10 Team Leaders to organise their teams for production schedules to complete orders in timely manner for expecting end customers.
  • Manage maintenance/handy man and other services, safety & warranty cover.
  • Overall operational effectiveness of all warehousing and fulfilment activities (goods inwards, stock management, order fulfilment and logistics).
  • Plan and implement a project to expand company warehouse capacity, especially space optimisation.
  • Responsible for site Health & Safety and Risk Assessments.
  • Interpret and action sales data and inventory analysis to ensure the availability and accurate picking, dispatch and delivery of stock in line with forecasted customer demands.
  • Managing Warehouse, Logistics, Assembly and fulfilment to provide an unrivalled level of service to customers and meet same-day and next-day delivery targets.
  • To maximise the weekly, monthly and annual performance of the site providing leadership, focusing on customer requirement, effective operational performance, colleague engagement and succession planning.
  • Develop strong management capability through effective performance management, mentoring and development of the team
  • To provide effective, safe, accurate and timely stock management to include space management.
  • Managing disciplinary & grievance cases with HR.
  • Managing Warehouse Operatives who conduct:
  • Receiving, checking, sorting labelling the full range of products entering the warehouse.
  • Quality Control, Picking, packing and shipping customer orders.
  • Adhering to full and wide-ranging safety, quality and production standards.

Sometimes the Working Day will Include:

  • Standing and walking for long periods.
  • Lifting and moving products up to 23kg in weight.
  • Relocating products using forklifts, pump truck and power pallet truck.
  • Lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling and crouching so you must feel comfortable doing so.
  • Talking to many team members in motivational language, with instructions and firm authority when needed.
  • Surprise or unexpected events on site, and extra hours of supporting duties.

Must-haves

  • Hands on Warehouse Manager in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Effective Team management skills.
  • First-class communication skills to interact at all levels.
  • Proactive, with a ‘can-do’ attitude and ability to use own initiative.
  • Strong IT skills and excellent analytical problem solving.
  • Ideally, experience of a start-up operation.
  • Some project management experience would be an advantage.
  • Numerate, experience of budgeting and P&L.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to set deadlines.
  • Excellent decision-making, with the ability to lead/manage teams.
  • Flexible with hours and able to work weekends.
