How to Measure Your Drawer

You only need a metal tape measure and a pencil. There is no need to push or bend the tape measure into the bottom of the drawer.

Measuring a Simple Rectangular Drawer

  • - Empty and open the drawer fully.
  • - Measure from above the drawer.
  • - Hold the metal tape measure straight and level across the open drawer. Look directly down and align the end of the tape with the inside edge of the drawer base.
  • - Measure the internal width.
  • - Measure from the inside left edge to the inside right edge. Do not include the thickness of the drawer sides.
  • - Check the width in three places.
  • - Take a measurement near the front, in the middle and near the back. Some drawers are slightly narrower in one area than another.
  • - Measure the internal depth.
  • - From above, measure from the inside front edge of the drawer base to the inside back edge. Do not include the drawer front, handle or surrounding cabinet.
  • - Check both sides.
  • - Measure the depth down the left side and then the right side, as the drawer may not be perfectly square.
  • - Write down the smallest measurements.
  • - Using the smallest width and depth will help prevent the liner from being too large. Alternatively, order the liner slightly larger and trim it gradually at home.

Important Measuring Tips

  • - Keep the tape measure straight, flat and under light tension.
  • - Measure the internal base area, not the outside of the drawer.
  • - Look directly down when reading the tape to avoid measuring at an angle.
  • - Do not bend the metal tape into the drawer. A curved or bowed tape can give an inaccurate measurement.
  • - Measure to the nearest millimetre for the most accurate fit.
  • - Check every drawer separately, even when they appear to be the same size.

The Paper Template Method

  • - For unusually shaped, angled or older drawers, making a full-size paper template may be easier than relying on measurements alone.
  • - Lay newspaper, wrapping paper or taped-together sheets of printer paper inside the drawer.
  • - Overlap and tape the sheets together so the entire base is covered.
  • - Press the paper flat and gently crease it against each inside edge.
  • - Mark the edges and corners with a pencil.
  • - Remove the paper and cut along the marked lines.
  • - Place the paper back inside the drawer to check the fit.
  • - Adjust the template until it lies flat without folding or bunching.
  • - Place the finished template on the reverse of the leatherette liner.
  • - Draw around it and cut the liner using sharp household scissors.
  • - For rounded corners, place a coin, cup or another round object over the corner marks and use it as a cutting guide.

Final Fitting Tip

  • - Cut the leatherette slightly larger than the finished size first. Place it inside the drawer and trim away small amounts until it fits neatly.
  • - For easy removal and cleaning, leave a gap of approximately 1–2mm around each edge.
  • - Measure from above. Check twice. Trim gradually.

Print Guideline

  • DPI-Print Guideline Icon

What's the best resolution to print in?

We print at 200dpi, which is a good combination of quality and file weight. Ideally, your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi, this means that no resizing of your file occurs stopping any interpolation.

  • Jpeg-Tiff Print Guideline Icon

Should I save my file as a TIFF or JPEG?

For multi-coloured or very detailed files we recommend using a tiff format, but they must be flattened. For simple colours and low detail files, a jpeg is fine.

  • RGB-CMYK Print Guideline Icon

Which colour model should I choose? RGB or CMYK?

We advise providing images in the RGB colour space. Specifically using the sRGB image profile, to achieve best colour results. What does this mean? In your editing software choose RGB as the working space, and assign the image profile as sRGB (full name sRGB IEC61966-2.1)

  • GSM ICON

    What does GSM mean?

Grams per Square Meter (GSM) is an international standard for measuring the weight of paper or fabric. GSM uses the weight of a square meter (1000 x 1000mm) as an indication of the weight and thickness of a given fabric. We class 20-100gsm as light (summer fabrics, gauzes and fine silks), 101-249 gsm as medium (most clothing fabrics) and 250+ gsm as heavy (upholstery fabrics, and other specialist fabrics).

  • Fill Bleed Areas ICON

    What are the bleed areas?

When designing your product, it’s best to make sure that your image is slightly larger than needed. In printing, the extra printed image is referred to as a “Bleed Area” or margin, and it is removed from the finished piece. A bleed area acts as a buffer for slight inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. however, it’s important to fill your bleed areas completely, or you may end up with white, unprinted strips along the edge of your finished product.

  • Transfer-Print Guideline Icon

Do you print on garments a customer supplies?

Unfortunately not. All our garments are printed on flat fabric and sewn into finished products, which gives a better, finished result and all-over print. We test meticulously so that we know what gets the best results on our fabrics, and our facilities cater perfectly to them. We do however print sublimation paper to order, so if you have access to a heat press you can press your fabrics or flat garments easily.

  • Pattern Alignment Across Seams ICON

Can you Align a Pattern or design across panels of a garment?

We always strive for the greatest accuracy when printing and constructing your garments. However, due to unavoidable stretch or movement of the fabric during the stitching process, we cannot guarantee perfect pattern registration across garment seams. We are generally accurate within 2-3mm, which Is close enough for most patterns but may show slight issues with detailed geometric patterns.

  • print label option icon

Can I print my own Labels?

Most of our garments now come with printable label space for you to add your own company information and branding! If you would like to sew in your own labels, we also offer Printed Fabric Labels here.

  • Eco friendly Printing

How is your fabric printing eco-friendly?

With environmental consciousness in mind, our fabrics are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used. Our heat fixing procedure fixes the colours and prints, avoiding the downsides of steaming, such as excess or contaminated water returning into the waste system. We have one facility in London where we conduct all the printing, production and fulfillment.

Please note: As everything we provide is handmade to order, all measurements may vary slightly.

Can I choose a custom size for my shelf and drawer liners?

Absolutely! Our leatherette shelf and drawer liners can be custom-cut to fit perfectly in your drawers and shelves. You have the option to select from popular pre-cut sizes or specify your own dimensions for a tailored fit. This level of customisation ensures that every detail is right, enhancing the aesthetic of your space.

We use high-quality materials that are not only durable but also printed with GREENGUARD Gold and OEKO-TEX® certified inks, ensuring a safe and sustainable product for you and the planet.

How do I measure my drawer?

Measure the internal base — width from inside edge to inside edge, and depth from inside front to inside back. Don't include the drawer sides, front panel, or handle. Always use the smallest measurement if the drawer isn't perfectly square. See our full How to Measure guide on this page.

Which leatherette finish should I choose?
