How Square Photo Book Printing Works
Square photo book printing uses traditional hand binding methods and exquisite digital printing. The book itself is made up of folios, as we take a large sheet of glossy photo paper and fold it in such a way to create 4 book pages. The print is long-lasting, as the ink is fused deep into the surface so it won't rub, peel away or scratch off. The spine comes in your choice of 4 colours (black, green, blue or red) and our expert bookmakers bind the pages into the spine using classic techniques. The glossy finish adds to the premium and professional feel of square book printing.
The cover of your square photo book is glossy and easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Square photo book printing operates in folios, so please design your book in 4 pages at a time. This means that 1 sheet of paper is folded to make 4 pages. If you don't design your book in multiples of 4, you'll be left with blank pages. For example, if you were to only fill in 35 out of the 40 pages, a folio would be partially incomplete. Of course, this can be done intentionally to be used as note pages, however we suggest to fill the pages in 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40.

How does this product enhance my...
A square photo book is a contemporary alternative to the family photo album. Print pictures of your children's hand drawings, family days out and other special memories. Another idea is to design your book to reveal to your children a new baby brother or sister is on the way. This could help your little ones take the news better.
Bring your products to life and make your own picture book brochure. Whether they're placed in showrooms or delivered to customers' homes, it's an impressive way to promote your business. They're also great for artists to use as portfolios or lookbooks, and because of the size, they can be taken along to interviews and meetings.
A unique way to capitalise on square photo book printing is to create your own range of colouring books. Print each page with the outlines of your artwork and leave blank for customers to colour in themselves. It's a novel way to encourage your fans to enjoy your work. Colouring in therapy is a huge trend at the moment so don't miss out.
Frequently asked questions:
How many pages are there?
Our square book printing produces 40 internal pages to customise with your unique content. You don't have to print on all of them, as some customers prefer to leave a blank pages at the front and back for a professional touch, or to use as note pages.
What is a folio?
Your square photo book is made up of folios, meaning 1 sheet of glossy photo paper is folded to make 4 book pages. Due to this, we suggest designing pages in multiples of 4 to guarantee there's no blank pages at the end.
Will it fit in my bag?
The compact 20x20cm dimensions mean you can easily make your own picture book for carrying around, ideal for business meetings and events. Also, as it's a soft cover, it's more portable and lightweight than a hardback portfolio book.
What's the best resolution to print in?
We print at 200dpi, which is a good combination of quality and file weight. Ideally, your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi, this means that no resizing of your file occurs stopping any interpolation.
Should I save my file as a TIFF or JPEG?
For multi-coloured or very detailed files we recommend using a tiff format, but they must be flattened. For simple colours and low detail files, a jpeg is fine.
Which colour model should I choose? RGB or CMYK?
If each individual colour is specifically important to your design, choose CYMK as our setup will print each colour with the closest possible match within our available range. If the relationship between the colours within the image is more important, choose RGB, this will reduce all colours equally to fit within our range.
What does GSM mean?
Grams per Square Meter (GSM) is an international standard for measuring the weight of paper or fabric. GSM uses the weight of a square meter (1000 x 1000mm) as an indication of the weight and thickness of a given fabric. We class 20-100gsm as light (summer fabrics, gauzes and fine silks), 101-249 gsm as medium (most clothing fabrics) and 250+ gsm as heavy (upholstery fabrics, and other specialist fabrics).
What are the bleed areas?
When designing your product, it’s best to make sure that your image is slightly larger than needed. In printing, the extra printed image is referred to as a “Bleed Area” or margin, and it is removed from the finished piece. A bleed area acts as a buffer for slight inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. however, it’s important to fill your bleed areas completely, or you may end up with white, unprinted strips along the edge of your finished product.
Do you print on garments a customer supplies?
Unfortunately not. All our garments are printed on flat fabric and sewn into finished products, which gives a better, finished result and all-over print. We test meticulously so that we know what gets the best results on our fabrics, and our facilities cater perfectly to them. We do however print sublimation paper to order, so if you have access to a heat press you can press your fabrics or flat garments easily.
Can you Align a Pattern or design across panels of a garment?
We always strive for the greatest accuracy when printing and constructing your garments. However, due to unavoidable stretch or movement of the fabric during the stitching process, we cannot guarantee perfect pattern registration across garment seams. We are generally accurate within 2-3mm, which Is close enough for most patterns but may show slight issues with detailed geometric patterns.
Can I print my own Labels?
Most of our garments now come with printable label space for you to add your own company information and branding! If you would like to sew in your own labels, we also offer Printed Fabric Labels here.
How is your fabric printing eco-friendly?
With environmental consciousness in mind, our fabrics are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used. Our heat fixing procedure fixes the colours and prints, avoiding the downsides of steaming, such as excess or contaminated water returning into the waste system. We have one facility in London where we conduct all the printing, production and fulfillment.
Please note: As everything we provide is handmade to order, all measurements may vary slightly.
